long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened

Jeanette Andersen When it comes to the ending of books, do you always want it to be a happy ending? What are other ways do you like a story to end?

Amy Lehman If its a romance, it has to have a happily ever after. Otherwise, I don't think you have to end it happy.

William McCorbin I like happy endings. I don't really know how to write anything else. I guess I'd have to do some research on that, if I ever decided to go that way.

Jeanette Andersen I'm debating on two different endings on my anthology I'm working on, but one seems to fit better with the story. So I guess a happy and sad ending can exist.

Amy Lehman The ending of my current WIP isn't really happy. I mean the guy and girl do not ride off into the sunset together, but I would say they are better off than at the beginning so it isn't sad.

Judith Rook I have always felt the ending of the film "Shane" is archetypal. It has everything. But I also think the ending of the novel itself (Jack Schaefer) is perhaps the more powerful ending, surveying the past, the present and the future.

Jeanette Andersen Have you every had aggressive door to door sales people? I have. Let me know how you dwelt with it. How about drinkable cleaning liquid. lol.

Deleted Member My late mother-in-law was a double amputee living alone in her modified home - and her answer to those seeking donations - "I have no legs, you should be giving money to ME!" - and to religious types - "Can your God give me back my legs?"

Judith Rook I like the idea of drinkable cleaning liquid. For something like that, I'd probably ask the sales person about its chemical make-up. I never give them any personal details.

The aggressive door to door sales person has faded out during the past few years over here, but they sometimes try to force their way into my life over the phone. I'm excellent at just hanging up. I don't consider that rudeness.

Thomas Weaver If religious types who won't take "No, thanks" for an answer (after choosing to disregard a "No Solicitors" sign on the door) can be counted as aggressive door-to-door salespeople, I know someone who once made a pair of 'em go away by answering the door...  moreIf religious types who won't take "No, thanks" for an answer (after choosing to disregard a "No Solicitors" sign on the door) can be counted as aggressive door-to-door salespeople, I know someone who once made a pair of 'em go away by answering the door with a large ax in hand.

Timothy Bateson Thanks Jeanette. I really liked the video template from PowToon, and given the agency that the MC works for it's very characterful. I've used it in the past to do a promotional video for the 1st edition of this story.

Do you overlook it/not notice at all, or is it a big annoyance, or somewhere in between?
